- To take on a Lease at a peppercorn rent
- To work with the Radnor Estate to gift the lift to Folkestone
- If 1 & 2 above failed to provide assistance to a third party who succeeded in obtaining a lease as long as they were either a charity or Community Interest Company
The intention was to set up a Charitable Trust to negotiate and manage the lift but on advice from similar organisations a Not For Profit Community Interest Company was the vehicle.
- The directors of the Community Interest Company would be specialists within given fields; they would also be unpaid volunteers. The area of expertise required for the management team include:
- Qualified Engineer
- Sales & Marketing
- Negotiator
- Fund Raising/Treasurer
- Operations
- Membership
The management would be based on a corporate structure with the overall plan being agreed between the directors and passed by the members. Directors are responsible for their part of the plan, a chairman of some standing and experience would be appointed to control meetings and if necessary have a casting vote. The structure would stop any one person taking control of the organisation and dictating direction a problem with this type of organisation. The members directors would be experienced professional people who have or are working in a corporate structure.
Lord Radnor, the owner of the lift and his agents the Manor Office has laid down two simple rules before they will issue a lease. The management must be professional and have the wherewithal to maintain the grade II listed building. The type of lease is open to negotiation.
Other needed are advisors including Legal, Accounting, and Computer/Internet
Members will also be needed to give a little time to help the directors on a voluntary basis. It is envisaged that the directors and assistants will only need to provide two of hours a week.
We have the Treasurer, Negotiator, and Engineer, it is the other positions we would like to fill. If you feel, you can provide the level of expertise we need on a voluntary unpaid basis, please send a CV of your qualifications and experience to:

It is regrettable that we have to ask for proof of experience in the form of references as we have had so many people waste our time
The majority of the work can be carried out over the internet and telephone, it is mainly directional, and making sure the tasks are carried out, location is not a problem
