The founding member of Friends of the Leas Lift has been very ill for the past several weeks with Swine Flue, the reoccurrence of a tropical illness similar to malaria and recently diagnosed as diabetic. To reduce Richard’s workload aspects of Friends of the Leas Lift were given to three others to manage. Two of those people, due to pressure of work, have had to place their assistance on hold; the Friends thank them for their assistance. The third person Tony was appointed to help with research and planning and over the past few weeks has provided a great deal of useful information and direction. For a short time Tony acted as temporary CEO though now his tasks have been completed he has relinquished that position and thank him for his time and dedication to the tasks he managed and providing Richard with a little breathing space.
However, Richard has managed to shake of Swine Flue and the Malaria type illness he is still struggling to control his diabetic illness. He has agreed to return and continue to pull together the management structure of the Friends of the Leas Lift, he will this week contact all those members that have completed membership forms and paid the membership fees.
We can only apologise for the delay in getting back to new members but we do place a great deal of reliance on Richard and forget that he has businesses to manage as well as the Friends of the Leas Lift. If you feel able to assist him with admin and other task contact him through the “Contact” tab at the head of this page.
Negotiations with the Manor Office were opened in August but these were placed on hold whilst Lord Radnor’s agents began negotiations to recover £300,000 in dilapidations from Shepway District Council, the previous lift operator. The Manor Office has indicated that these will not be completed until early 2010, and then they wish to carry out the work.
